Description
In shipping containers (ISO-standard intermodal units), the hinge blade is the fixed, blade-shaped component welded to the rear corner post that supports the rotating hinge pin for the double cargo doors.
The "Maersk Type" refers to a specific design variant used prominently in containers operated or specified by A.P. Moller-Maersk, characterized by its robust forging or casting method for enhanced load-bearing (up to 30+ tons per door). The nylon bush (or bushing) is a low-friction, self-lubricating sleeve inserted into the blade's pin hole, reducing wear on the steel pin, minimizing squeaking, and extending service life in harsh marine environments.
Nylon (typically PA66 grade) resists corrosion better than metal alternatives like copper bushes and requires no grease.
